Okay folks, here is an outline for practices this week. (see schedules) The details for each day will be dependent on temperature. Be prepared for running, skiing, and some indoor strength work. We will be at Birch Hill Tues-Thurs, and the team will leave for Valdez early Friday morning. Information about our 3-day trip will be out tomorrow, along with a detailed race schedule. Please be conscious of the very cold temperatures and dress accordingly. Skiers who are planning on traveling to Valdez must be in school on Thursday. No exceptions.

Have a Merry Xmas!
Friday – Ski Your Age
Show up around sunup and ski your age in kilometers. This is a nice mellow day with many familiar faces out on the trails. It may be very cold, so dress appropriately. Don’t let the cold stop you from getting out to do some more classic skiing.
Saturday — Murphy Dome Tour
River ice conditions have stopped us from touring on the Chena. Instead we have been invited to join West Valley for the Murphy Dome tour. This is tentative at this time. Check back here or talk to Bob when you catch up with him skiing on Friday. Look for an email too.
Today’s results will be posted later for the time trial. More shopping is in order!

Winter Break Dec 22-Dec 28
During the break from school, ski practice is not mandatory, but it IS highly recommended. All of the technique and strength that you have worked so hard for will be gone in a matter of 2-3 days. Unless otherwise noted, practice will start at noon and end by 2pm. Be prepared for both ski techniques, as well as running.

VALDEZ
The first weekend after returning from break, the team will be heading to Valdez for a ski race. The plan is to leave early Friday morning (Jan 9) and return Sunday evening (Jan 11). Please send me an email saying YES you will be traveling with the team, or NO you will not. I need a head count ASAP. Skiers were required to participate in two races, and volunteer at our fundraising events to be eligible for travel. Skiers must also participate in BOTH races in Valdez. No exceptions.
All skiers who wish to travel to Valdez MUST be at school on Thursday Jan 8. This is a School District rule.

1. If any parents would be willing to swing by Sam’s Club and pick up some snacks for the skiers to have up at Birch after practice, that would be great. Receipts may be submitted to the Booster Club for re-imbursement. I picked up some things last week and they were gobbled up within days. They are RAVENOUS (and very vocal about it!) after practice.

It was a blur out there on the first Saturday of December. Everyone was flying around the course!
